Boavista Football Club is a football team from Oporto, Portugal.

The Club has been founded in 1903 by a group of Englishmen together with some Portuguese from the west side of Oporto, and can count on 104 years of history. The team was initially named Boavista Footballers, until the name was changed to Boavista FC in 1909.The team's trademark is the monochrome chequered jersey, which made it recognizable everywhere in the world. The golden era of the team began between the ‘70s and the ‘80s, when Boavista reached the second place in the Portuguese League for the first time, then going to win the first Portugal Cup and being able to play the Uefa Cup. 2001 was the year of the very first victory of the Portuguese League, after a very challenging season fought against the historical rivals of Porto. Boavista plays at Estàdio do Bessa, built in1973 and renewed for the European Championships played in Portugal in 2004.
