Location: Hannover, Lower Saxony, Germany
Stadium: AWD-Arena
Founded: 1896

Founded in 1896, Hannover traces its roots back to the sport of rugby. Fortunately soccer took precedence and Hannover 96 has established itself as one of the most historical clubs in Germany with a world-renowned fan base (an average 40,000 spectators filled Awd-Arena during home matches last year). Given the nickname, "Die Roten", ("The Reds") by their supporters simply for the color of their uniforms, Hannover have not let down their faithful following.

Hannover 96's biggest success dates back to 1938 when they became Champions of Germany for the first time, repeating their championship in the 1954/1955 season. 1992 marked Hannover's most recent domestic success, beating Borussia Moenchengladbach in the final of the German Cup. In 2002, Hannover 96 returned to the spotlight of the Bundesleague after sliding down into the German third division. In the last Championship, 2004/05, they arrived in 10th place with 45 points.
