Scotland has taken part in eight final tournaments of the World Championship, the first time in the 1954 season with the most recent in the 1998. Recently Scotland has missed the qualification for the 2004 European Football Championship in Portugal and 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. However, the team has witnessed a rival of past success, been playing magnificently in the 2007 season, and is in the running for EURO 2008.
