Viktor Troicki is another young player with a great career ahead of him. He started playing tennis at the age of 5. In 2003, at the age of 17, he won his first singles tournament in front of his hometown. On January 20, 2005, he won his first Challenger Tournament that also took place in Belgrade, making him a local favorite among fans.

He made his ATP Tour appearance in October 2006 in Tokyo, Japan. After defeating Fernando Vicente of Spain in the first round, he put up a strong fight against Roger Federer in the second round, falling 7-6(2), 7-6(3).

In July 2007, Troicki had his biggest victory to date in Umag against fellow countryman Novak Dokovic, who was ranked #3. He would eventually lose in the semifinals to Andre Pavel of Romania.

In 2008, he advanced as a qualifier for the Australian Open. Drawing No. 2 seed Rafael Nadal in the first round, he played a strong match but lost 7-6(3), 7-5, 6-1.
